Round 4 MNWFL

16 Mar 2019 by Southern Flinders Football Club

Round 4 of MNWFL was played last night is breezy and brisk weather conditions.
It caught a few off guard with the swirling cold winds but the Tigers came prepared.
Ness and Hannah Watson graciously took the field for the Cats due to short numbers allowing for a 9 a side game to get the green light.
The Cats had the breeze at their backs for the first qtr but strong defensive tactics from the Tigers backline in Leah P, Corrie N, Moni P and Emma Kerr kept scores to a minimum. Qtr time scores Tigers 0.2 v Cats 1.0
Helen Gaunt bobbed up kicking her first goal in the second but must have changed boots to point scorers for the remainder of the Qtr....Keep practicing at recess Helen ..Cassie Piro made the dash for cash early and easily navigated her way to a goal or two , keeping the goal keeper moving and warmed up for the remainder of the second Qtr. Tigers 5.5 v Cats 1.1
Brittany White aka ( Danger) as we heard from the crowd, had the ball on a string with good help in the middle from Renee Kretch. Niki Fejo livened up the action in the third, biting off more that she can chew, taking on not once, not twice but three times the opponent 5 times her size like a mozzie that you know is there but you can’t see it and it’s bloody annoying... just goes to show persistence pays off. Polly Edwards was in crunch mode and broke up a few scrums with a few cringes coming from the large group of Tiger spectators. On more than one occasion it was like she had driven herself into a strainer post but in typical Polly fashion she dusted herself off and had another go. Third Qtr Tigers 8.7 v Cats 2.1
Coach Midas Mickey O set the challenge for 5 goals for the last going with the breeze. Challenge accepted! Everyone wanted a piece of the action. Tamisha Roberts kicked 4 , Goal Kicker Gaunt had 4 for the night, Cassie Piro also totalled 4 with Corrie Nelson, Kimmie P, Brittany White and out of the woodwork Georga Nettle all with one for the night. Final Scores Tigers 16.9 v Cats 2.1
Big Cheers to Riley Fuss who goal umpired and all the spectators who came to watch. It was so great to see the Tiger family out in big numbers to support the girls.
Last minor round game next week as we take on the Rosters @ 8:15 before the FINALS Round. #2ontheladder #comingforyouorroroo #bannermakingforsure
